Puthiya Thalaimurai TV is a part of “New Generation Media Corporation” that has started its satellite television broadcasting on August 24, 2011. The Tamil news television channel is owned by SRM Group of Companies from Tamil Nadu. Puthiya Thalaimurai (புதிய தலைà®®ுà®±ை) meaning New Generation in English has started their magazine as well. It is a Tamil weekly which mainly focuses on education, Tamil Nadu based political news and critics, higher studies related columns, job opportunities, etc.
This PuthiyaThalaimurai TV channel has a wide range of international and local Tamil viewers. Soon after the live relay of the channel begun, it has topped the TRP ratings among other existing Tamil channels. Especially, as a news channel, it had acquired a huge viewer base comparing to other top news channels like Sun News, Jaya News, Kalaingar Seithigal and others which are all regional language news channels from the state.
