Sonakshi Sinha signs opposite Super star Mahesh Babu

She has been part of many R100 crore Bollywood ventures — Dabangg (2010), Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore and Son Of Sardaar (all 2012). And now, Sonakshi Sinha is ready to head south. The actor will make her entry into the Telugu film industry with writer-director Krish Jagarlamudi’s period film,Shivam. She has been cast opposite Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu.

Apparently, Krish began writing Shivam three years ago, which is also when he first saw Sonakshi in Dabangg. He wanted to narrate the story to her back then, however, Sonakshi did not want to branch out into any other industry.
“Recently, thanks to Prabhudheva, Krish managed to meet Sonakshi and the first thing he told her was that he had written the film keeping her in mind. The narration was supposed to take only 45 minutes, but because Sonakshi wanted to know every detail, it only ended three hours later,” says the source.
On being contacted, the actor confirms the news, saying, “It’s a wonderful period film and will project Mahesh and me in a very different light. It will also give me tremendous scope to perform. Even though I have a packed schedule here in Bollywood, I will make time for this movie. I believe opportunities like these come only once in a lifetime.”
The director of the film, meanwhile, is thrilled about this development. “Sonakshi is a combination of beauty, elegance and great acting skills,” he says, adding, “That’s why Mahesh, producer Aswani Dutt and I thought she should be introduced to the south Indian film industry too. She already has a fan following here.” The film is expected to go on the floors later this year.

Sonakshi Sinha Twitted in her account  "Wow! Lots of support from the south for my telegu debut - thanks guys!! Really looking forward to it... Feels like dajavu"
